The Storm Chaser

The hurricane ripped up the coast -- destruction in its path.
Folks returned in disbelief at its aftermath.
Years of dreams built up with brick now leveled to the ground.
Lives destroyed, nowhere to turn -- hopelessness abounds.

You've seen so many people facing storms within their lives:
Drug abusers, alcoholics, frightened, battered wives.
From hopeless situations you have helped to show the way.
Your ministry has touched the lives of many every day.

And when life throws its storms my way, I, too, can count on you
To help me find the answers that will let me start anew.
You've helped to guide my steps along the straight and narrow road.
Your words of love encourage me and help to ease the load.

And so we come to honor you and make a great big fuss,
To let you know how much your love has meant to each of us.
We're proud to call you Pastor, Father, Husband and Dear Friend;
Our gratitude will be with you from now until the end.
